SafeCo Fights Fire with Fire Coverage
Wildfires have become an increasing problem as evidenced by more coverage in the news outlets. Just search #wildfire in Twitter and watch images of forest fire aftermath pour into your browser window. (just ignore all the promotional entertainment posts in which “Wildfire” is a song name or movie title)
Some of the best minds in firefighting have been at work creating new and creative ways of not only putting out wildfires, but containing them and keeping them from getting out of control in the first place. However, funding and resources are always limited and there are only so many ways these resources can be divided before they’re spread too thin.
This is where companies like SafeCo come in!
Not content with just picking up the pieces after a devastating fire, SafeCo has put together the “WildFire Defense Program” to keep homes in dry, wildfire prone areas safe.
Wildfire Defense Systems, Inc. is provided with a map of SafeCo’s policyholders, and in turn, they provide SafeCo with reports and recommendations. By pulling their resources together, they’re able to react quickly: removing dry plants, trash and combustables from the property, digging trenches, and using an innovative new fire-blocking gel that creates a virtual wild-fire barrier.
No, the Gulf Coast may not be prone to wildfires, but it’s always refreshing to see an insurance company take such a proactive approach to preventing disaster. This is the way insurance ought to be, and we can hardly wait to see what else is in store for the future.
